There was a minor upset when their close opponent SerbianFMP BG (4-7) was smashed on the road by first ranked Romanian Cluj Napoca (9-3) 93-65 on Saturday. Cluj Napoca shot 62.3 percent from the field. Cluj Napoca outrebounded FMP BG 38-27 including a 34-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cluj Napoca looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Panamanian guard Iverson Molinar (193-1999, college: MSU) nailed 18 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American point guard Daron Russell (180-1998, college: Maryland) accounted for 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Cluj Napoca players scored in double figures. Greek-American point guard Nick Calathes (196-1989, college: Florida) came up with 17 points and 7 assists and swingman Filip Barna (201-1999) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for FMP BG in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cluj Napoca . Defending Romanian champion maintains first place with 9-3 record which they share with defeated FMP BG . FMP BG lost their third game in a row. They still keep top position with seven games lost.
